You Gush, I Blush

Is this thing on?

The job's fine, thanks. Yep, we actually found a decent apartment downtown--it's small, but big enough, you know what I mean? Amy and I are getting along fine, thanks for asking. We even got a couple cats.

CRANK welcomes Dan Kelly to the growing roster of invite-only contributors. He accepted the herculean task of rooting around the CRANK mailbag to find only those letters that captured "that CRANK spirit." Admire his work, here.

Credit where credit is due: The incredible cover art was once again done by Dennis McGee. In case you're curious, it was created entirely on the Mac in Illustrator 5.5 (by way of Streamline 3.0); the man is a true artiste.

John Livingstone of Insight sent me a dirty Word Find that he had created, thinking I might be able to use it. While I didn't use John's work per se, I was inspired to create my own zany Word Find based on the ridiculous sexual slang found in The Fermata, which I was reading at the time. You'll find the Fermata Word Find here.

In CRANK #4, I used some art without crediting the source. Belated thanks to Brother Russell for the "Punch Out" artwork.

Chris of Angst Illustrated drew the "Punk Fucking Rock" icon used in CRANK #4's reviews. I apologize for not giving him credit at that time. See more illustrations by Chris, "Find the Pairs."

Thanks go out to Chicago's Lumpen for kicking me in the balls three days before I went to press with this issue. Their September issue (vol. 4, no. 4) featured "Lumpenland," a spoof on Candyland. Fortunately for them, I like Lumpen, and their spoof isn't nearly as obsessive as Crankyland.

I will not indulge in a long paragraph of "thanks." If you're looking here for your name, then you should probably assume that your name would be here, if I were to engage in that sort of editorial behavior. This, of course, is a clever device to get me off the hook since I'd probably forget 75% of the people who have been helpful to The Cause.

Rock steady.
